we are pleased to announce that our project has been accepted by Big lottery community fund, our boxing & meditation program will begin on line from March 8th,
our Martial Mind Program is a great way to reduce the stress and anxiety of families from communities experiencing multiple deprivation and adversely effected by the coronavirus pandemic, through boxing and mindfulness.
- The Martial Mind project is a 16-week programme made up of 2 sessions face to face per week plus one online parent/carer peer support session.
- Each 60 minute session will consist of 5 boxing and mindfulness which will be delivered by our Senior coach and founder Sue King who has been practicing and coaching combat sports for thirty five years and has been delivering mindfulness and mental wellbeing support for past seven years
- The programme will be made up of two sessions will be mixed group of teenagers and adults We have trialled this previously and it had really good participation but were unable to keep it going due to lockdown and funding limits. The aim is to get families enjoying physical activity together and learn together which will ultimately support the young person progression in life. We understand that to support young people we need to and want to engage with their parent/carers as well. There is a great sense of achievement and acknowledgement for young people to either support their parent/carers to learn something or to be able to showcase their skills in front of their parents/carers. This project will tap into this as part of the mental well-being development.
